Beach clean up finds

I joined a beach clean-up recently and thought I would share some of the finds. Sometimes you come across something really interesting, for example, this metal tin box, that seems to come from rather far away.

Sometimes you also get to find some exciting stuff, for example, mermaid purses (keep an eye on the next blog post!)

And sometimes it is just what you are looking for. Plastic, rubbish, broken down plastic and all kinds of household items that washed up on the beach.
This time around, I noticed a lot of broken-up plastic pieces. It made me sad to see all of it, wondering how we can do better.

Some tips that come to mind:

• Always dispose of your rubbish properly.

• Recycle what can be recycled. Not sure? Look it up

• Unwanted big bulky items that have no use anymore? Bring it to your local civic amenity site

• Have a bag and spare gloves in the car with you. Pick up when and wherever you can during your walks or activities
